Todd Kashdan, one of the leading thinkers in curiosity research, has written a book that is empirically grounded but accessible to everyone. It provides a good conceptual overview of the theoretical construct but also provides practical applications. This is a good place to start.
This book is not an “easy read.” However, it provides a significant historical perspective on interest and curiosity research over the past 50 years.
This PDF file provides a list of research-based articles that either provide a theoretical framework to understand the construct of hope or they present the latest findings of the effect of curiosity on college students.
Todd B. Kashdan, Ph.D., Paul Rose, B.A., & Frank D. Fincham, Ph.D. This inventory is built on Kashdan’s work on curiosity. It measures a person’s level of recognition, pursuit, and integration of life experiences and information that are novel and challenging. Additionally, the inventory looks at how engaged one becomes in those novel and interesting experiences.
